While the first and second days of Tokyo Game Show are only open to press and distributors, the doors are open to everyone at the weekend.

On these two days, the masses descended upon the site of Tokyo Game Show, Makuhari Messe (peculiarly in neighbouring Chiba prefecture rather than Tokyo) with each influx totalling around 100,000 people on each day.

Indies and mobile took over this year, grabbing multiple areas across each huge hall. As the only respite from the centre of the crowded show floor, visibility for devs in these areas increased dramatically.

Meanwhile, the death of handhelds has been greatly exaggerated. Each of the big third-party devs were pushing both core and new franchises on 3DS and PS Vita, even if they were reluctant to share any information detailing western releases.

Cosplay Collection Night is a regular feature at TGS, and this year didn't disappoint with all manner of high calibre homemade costumes, with my favourites being Chrono Trigger, Persona Q, and Dragon's Crown.

Nary a yen was left in anyone's pocket by the end of the show thanks to the huge TGS shopping area. Capcom, Square-Enix, Konami, and SEGA all sold exclusive merch that had fans queuing for hours.

Prices ranged from ¥8,100 for Konami's iDroid iPhone case down to ¥100 for official Puyo Puyo gummy sweets from SEGA. I'm not going to lie - I couldn't resist the Fat Chocobo plush after my recent enamourment with Theatrhythm: Curtain Call.

Goodies for playing each game weren't as prevalent as previous years, but there was still the odd keychain (La-Mulana EX), plush (Space Pirate Popet), or tote bag (Monster Hunter 4G) to be won if you kept your eye out.

StreetPassing is as mad as ever in Japan. You can quite easily max out your limit of ten people within a few minutes on the show floor or in one of the waiting areas, and it often looked as if some folks were here just for that.

It's always a little sad to leave such an eventful show floor in the gaming Mecca of Japan, but at least we've left with a glance of things to come over the coming year.

But hey, at least EGX is kicking off today! Will you be about? Let us know what you'll be playing in the comments below!
Miss Cornelia it was; moreover, Miss Cornelia had not come to make any brief and fashionable wedding call. She had her work under her arm in a substantial parcel, and when Anne asked her to stay she promptly took off her capacious sun-hat, which had been held on her head, despite irreverent September breezes, by a tight elastic band under her hard little knob of fair hair. No hat pins for Miss Cornelia, an it please ye! Elastic bands had been good enough for her mother and they were good enough for HER. She had a fresh, round, pink-and-white face, and jolly brown eyes. She did not look in the least like the traditional old maid, and there was something in her expression which won Anne instantly. With her old instinctive quickness to discern kindred spirits she knew she was going to like Miss Cornelia, in spite of uncertain oddities of opinion, and certain oddities of attire.

Speed Dating for Ghosts is finally out for iOS after spending a few years on Steam. The game is really quite unique in the dating sim space.

You have died and now find yourself in a speed dating room (and no, this is not a Dark Souls or Cuphead dating game). You'll meet other fellow ghosts, each with their own unique personalities and backgrounds.

They all look extremely different from one another with unique styles. You can talk to what appears to be a shark, as well as a dog searching for his owner.

Since it's a narrative game, the dialogue is key to success. It's all about saying the right things to please each personality.

The goal is to get them to open up to you and tell you how they lived and how they died. Once they do, you can say the right things and hopefully help them find peace in the afterlife.

One of the neat things is that each character you encounter comes from a different time frame. So maybe it's someone who passed recently, or it could be someone who died many years ago.

However, be careful there, smooth operator, as the words you say can turn your potential companion, just like with real dating, or really with any conversations in life. Say the wrong stuff, and things can get kind of nasty, and your potential partner will storm away from the table.

The key is to let them open up to you first before you do so. Do that, and you'll be on your way to ghostly love in no time.

Speed Dating for Ghosts is available on the App Store for $2.99.
Do you enjoy the art of narrative games? Well, you're in luck! Here are the top 5 for iPhone and Android from last year
