A PEASANT had in his garden an Apple-Tree which bore no fruit but only served as a harbor for the sparrows and grasshoppers. He resolved to cut it down, and taking his axe in his hand, made a bold stroke at its roots. The grasshoppers and sparrows entreated him not to cut down the tree that sheltered them, but to spare it, and they would sing to him and lighten his labors. He paid no attention to their request, but gave the tree a second and a third blow with his axe. When he reached the hollow of the tree, he found a hive full of honey. Having tasted the honeycomb, he threw down his axe, and looking on the tree as sacred, took great care of it.

Of wealth, of filial fear, law, kindred, fame!
goGame have announced that their upcoming MMO strategy game Three Kingdoms: Domination is available now to pre-register for Android in the SEA regions. This will be followed by a global, closed beta, test on the 5th November, with more details on how to be involved in that coming soon.

In Three Kingdoms: Domination you will choose if you want to serve emperor of the Wei, Shu or Wu Kingdom. Once you've selected your allegiance you'll set off to conquer neighbouring capitals so that you can claim their land as your own.

To do this, you're obviously going to need a pretty sizeable army. You'll have over 100 heroes to choose from to lead your army into battle. You'll be able to train them to unlock their potential so they can become even more potent on the battlefield. The troops themselves will be divided into three types – cavalry, archers and infantry. You'll most likely need to maintain a good balance of all three to give yourself the most strategic flexibility possible.
"Almost everybody sent him some little present to help out the furnishing of the house. When the Russells came into it they were well-to-do and furnished it real handsome, as you can see; but the first furniture that went into it was plain enough. This little house was rich in love, though. The women sent in quilts and tablecloths and towels, and one man made a chest for her, and another a table and so on. Even blind old Aunt Margaret Boyd wove a little basket for her out of the sweet-scented sand-hill grass. The schoolmaster's wife used it for years to keep her handkerchiefs in.

Valve co-founder Gabe Newell will be making a video address at 2016's Unity Vision Summit for a special address.

Unity have gone big on virtual reality as a technology ever since the Oculus Rift shuffled into the scene, with their game platform currently allowing everyone to export to VR with just a button click. As a result the speaker list reads like a who's who in the virtual reality scene: Palmer Luckey, Clay Bavor and even Dr Richard Marks, the director of the PlayStation Magic Lab

Newell's appearance is of course related to Half Life 3 Valve's SteamVR platform and the HTC Vive VR Headset.

This would be a perfect time for Valve to reveal the price of the Vive, as the system is launching in April and we don't have a price yet, and that would explain why Gabe would be taking to the big stage.

There's also the chance, hopefully, possibly, that Gabe will show what Valve have been working on for on for VR. At the moment they don't have anything announced but I'm hoping for something exciting, even if it's Ricochet 2.

The event takes place on February 10-11th in Hollywood and we'll be bringing you more news from the event as it appears.

We’ve known about Minecraft Earth, Mojang’s foray into the world of AR, for a little while now, but the news today is that sign-ups for the game’s closed beta have now opened, with the first batch of players set to gain access within the next couple weeks.

The closed beta trailer promises a "living, breathing Minecraft world", fit with many similar mechanics from the main game. It’s obviously very much like Niantic’s Pokemon Go and Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, though there are some neat new ideas here that could set it apart.

The first Rocketbirds was a solid, non stop shooter that didn't lack depth. It had some room for improvements though and that's exactly what Ratloop is doing with the sequel dubbed Evolution.

In it, you'll find an enhanced only support with up to four players online or offline, you'll also be able to customize your characters with a wide variety of silly outfits.

To add more meat to the game, you will also find a new rescue mode and the dojo, the place to kick your friends' butts in PVP.

The game's humor is still present as attested by the latest gameplay trailer:

Game developer FIFTYTWO is releasing Populus Run today on Apple Arcade. That’s not to be confused with the classic Bullfrog game, Populous, which we’re all hoping makes a comeback one day.

This is a bit more unconventional than your average endless runner. To start with, instead of controlling a single character you’re moving a whole group down the lane. You need to run, jump and slide your way through the levels by controlling everyone, ensuring that they can make it past each obstacle just fine.
Hey friends! Populus Run will become available on @AppleArcade on January 29! Meet the eggplant who's excited about the upcoming release. He's a character in our game and now he is in real life! pic.twitter.com/R7GJCFs9Aa— FIFTYTWO (@wefiftytwo) January 25, 2021The usual quirks of the runner genre are still on display here though. You’re dodging and evading various hazards such as giant doughnuts, large vehicles and big pinballs, and you need to do this while ensuring you’re keeping as many people standing as possible.

Check out this trailer for Populus Run to see how chaotic some of these levels can get, as well as a closer look at the characters. The big sentient strawberry might be my favourite design so far.
"There are times," said Captain Jim, between spasms, "when it would be a sin NOT to laugh. Them two excellent women!"
